Detaching and re-attaching Cloud Licences and Software NETWORK licences

This article assumes n4ce is set up to work with Software or Cloud Licences.  If you are currently set up to use USB dongles, please follow this guide to switch over to Software Licencing first.

With n4ce Cloud Licences and Software network licences, we can use the Gemalto Browser Interface to Detach and Reattach a licence seat. This is very useful if you need to work remotely without a VPN or network connection.

Please Note:  A VPN or Network connection is required to detach/reattach a licence.

Detaching a Licence

Start by ensuring you are connected to the server (via a VPN or Network). Next open the Gemalto Web interface from the following link: http://localhost:1947/_int_/products.html

Once open select Products --> Detach.

Note: If you do not see the Detach option, ensure that Enable Detaching of Licenses has been enabled. This can be found by clicking Configuration --> Detachable Licences --> Enabling Detaching of licences and clicking submit. This will need to be done both locally and on the server (for Network licences). 

Assuming you can see the appropriate Detach option, Click on Detach. You will be directed to a new window where we can either detach Online or Offline. Online is the simplest and will automatically apply the licence to your PC indicated by the PC name.

Offline will give you an H2R file (Host to Recipient). You will need to select the machine that the File is going to be applied to from the dropdown menu. This can then be applied to the PC via the update and attach section on the left menu box.

Following this, we can now specify an expiry date for the licence so it will automatically be reattached to the server when the time runs out, no VPN is needed.

Finally press Detach. 

Once the licence has been detached it will appear in the licence manager as a "Hire" with the set number of days it has been requested for.  You MUST double-click the new Hire licence to tell n4ce to use it.

Re-attaching a Licence

No matter which way you detached the licence they are both re-applied in the same way. Please navigate to the Gemalto Web interface: http://localhost:1947/_int_/ACC_help_index.html

Once here please select Products --> Cancel Licence.

You will be brought to a final page where information about the products is listed and we can select Cancel Licence. Note: This will close any n4ce session open on this licence.
