The Roof 4 Points option allows you to create a full, pitched roof for a rectangular building from a line feature of four points. The first three points should represent the gable end of the roof line and the fourth should represent another the next corner. After the feature is selected, n4ce will create two feature strings.
The first will have six points representing a closed loop of the two gable ends. The first and third points of the indicated feature will not be changed. However, the second point, representing the ridge line, will be adjusted such that it is in line with those two points. The fourth point will be adjusted such that the angle at the third point is a right angle. The fifth and sixth points are then calculated so that the cable ends are parallel, thus forming a rectangle of six points.
The second feature will have two points representing the roof ridge, the second and fifth points from the first feature.
