The three options at the top of the menu tell n4ce where the information you wish to query is. On the Query Menu, the current setting for this feature is signified by a blob. On the Query Toolbar, there are three buttons that perform the same function, one of which will be pressed in. Each button has a foreground rectangle, a background rectangle and a question mark and the rectangles are coloured according to the function.
Current - The information is in the current model. The foreground rectangle in the icon is filled yellow.
Backcloths - The information is in a model that is in the current backcloth. The background rectangle in the icon is filled yellow.
Either - The information could be in either the current model or a model in the current backcloth. Both the foreground and background icons are filled yellow. If this setting is set, n4ce will search the current model first and if nothing is found it will then search the models in the current backcloth.
When querying objects and more than one object can be found inside the cursor search area, n4ce will report this via the normal multiple objects dialog box. At the moment, however, it can only report multiple objects if they are in the same model, whether that is the current model or one in the backcloth.
The setting for where to query is stored as one of the global application settings rather than a setting for each individual project. If you have been querying information from backcloths only and you try and query information where there is no backcloth, you will be asked if you wish to change this setting to query the current model.
